This low allergy adhesive has a tapered construction and micro-thin edges with a trilaminate construction, a ...MoreSmith And Nephew Allevyn Adhesive Hydrocellular Dressing, designed with an anatomical fit for hard to reach areas on the body, providing enhanced pressure sore management. This low allergy adhesive has a tapered construction and micro-thin edges with a trilaminate construction, a perforated wound contact layer, a highly absorbent central hydrocellular layer, and a waterproof outer film layer. The wound contact layer is coated with a low allergy adhesive, to adhere well to intact skin, but not the wound. This Highly Absorbent sacrum dressing can stay in place for up to five days. The perforated wound contact layer allows viscous exudate to pass into the dressing. The hydrocellular core of the dressing absorbs and holds liquid in its microscopic structure, and the breathable outer surface of the dressing allows excess moisture to evaporate away from the dressing. This sacrum creates and maintains a moist wound healing environment, and has a profiled cross-section, narrowing to micro-thin edges, ensuring the dressing remains securely in place and prevents accidental removal by friction between the dressing and clothes, and bedding. The outer waterproof polyurethane layer prevents strike-through of excess exudate from getting in the dressing, and reduces the chances of cross-contamination or a wound infection. This dressing is ideal for exuding granulating wounds, like pressure sores, and it can be used in conjunction with Intasite Gel, a hydrogel wound dressing for necrotic, or sloughy wounds.Less
